Here at Wayne High School, we pride ourselves on being a family united in our vision for growth and excellence. We celebrate the extensive diversity within our building and leverage it to grow, learn and strengthen both our community of Generals and the greater Fort Wayne community.

Wayne is packed full of opportunities that allow every student to explore their interests, discover their passions and prepare for life beyond high school.

Signature Programs

New Tech Academy
Wayne is home to New Tech Academy, an award-winning small learning community built on:
  • Project-Based Learning
  • Student Advocacy
  • Community Partnerships
Early College Program
Through a partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, Wayne students can earn an Associate Degree while still in high school giving them a significant head start on college and career pathways.
 
JROTC
Established in 1994–1995 
  • A long-standing leadership development program at Wayne
  • Collaboration with South Side High School allows students to participate
Student Leadership & Voice

Superintendent’s Advisory Council
Wayne sends four students (one per grade level) to represent the student body to meet with the superintendent to discuss their high school and provide student perspective
  • Meeting times are every other month
  • Meetings are held downtown with district leadership
  • Selected students serve all four years
  • Representatives are selected through teacher recommendations
Student Ambassadors
Our Student Ambassadors are student leaders who:
  • Give school tours
  • Support case challenges
  • Assist at Back-to-School Night
  • Represent Wayne at major events
Foundational Clubs
These organizations help shape the culture of Wayne:

Each School of Success recognizes students who exemplify “The General Way” and represent excellence in character and achievement.

3DE Case Challenge Champions
  • Six case challenges annually
  • Opportunities for both freshmen and sophomores
  • Students compete in real-world business problem-solving scenarios

A celebration of student growth, leadership and academic excellence.
School Spirit & Traditions

Pep Sessions & Spirit Weeks
Wayne hosts at least two pep sessions annually, along with:
  • Spirit Weeks
  • Homecoming Celebrations

Champions Together
Wayne proudly participates in Champions Together, supporting inclusive athletics, including basketball.

Dress Like a Student Day
During our “Underground Spirit Day,” staff secretly coordinate outfits inspired by student style. Students spend the day trying to figure out what’s going on.
 

Special Olympics Polar Plunge
Wayne participates in fundraising efforts to support our in-house Applied Skills program and inclusive education initiatives. In 2026, funds were raised to further strengthen programming for students.

Staff & Alumni Recognition

Quarter Century Club
Honors staff members who have dedicated 25 years of service to Wayne High School.
Most recently, 24 members were inducted into this prestigious group.
 
Wayne Athletic Hall of Fame
Established in 2016, the Hall of Fame honors:
